They say the best things happen by accident — this thing sure did.

It started with a vacant building in Mornington, and a passion for creative community.

We’d all shared the odd conversation about the frustrations of trying to find a studio space — and the unique challenges of fitting into one. Late into 2024, our future home on the Mornington Peninsula went up for lease, and there was a flurry of conversation. Could this be the place? What would it take to run a creative studio, host art workshops, and build a retail space and creative market of our own?

Needless to say, we signed the lease.

Business, DIY and interior design skills were pushed to the front as we took over the keys in the early hours of 2025 — and after a couple of mad weeks, we officially launched on March 15th, 2025 as That Creative Space: a working art studio, workshop venue and gift shop in Mornington.

Since those early days, That Creative Space has grown into something more.

Our space isn’t just about what we create; it’s about the connections we make. Here, you’ll find art workshops, retail shelves filled with handmade goods, creative markets, brainstorming sessions that last for hours, and maybe a dance break or two. We’re big believers in lifting each other up, celebrating each other’s wins, and learning from our missteps.
